PLEASE COME! ‘Pocket the Problem’ exhibition is opening this month at the iconic City Hall in London. I am so proud it is finally happening. the exhibition runs from November 20th through to December 9th. Entry is free and it is open from 8.00am until 8.00pm Monday to Friday - so no excuses please, and maybe it will inspire you to start up your own challenge.
Below is the SERIOUS bumph…
Pocket the Problem is an exhibition that showcases ideas developed by over 650 London school girls. they were challenged to use Clippykit bags to explore the concept of fashion with a social conscious by raising awareness of issues close to their hearts. Issues included gun and knife crime, forced marriage, positive body image and respect for the elderly. The exhibition is the culmination of a partnership between Make your Mark, the campaign to give people in the UK the confidence, skills and ambition to enterprising, and award winning entrepreneur Calypso Rose, founder of Clippykit. It co-incides with Enterprise week which is a national celebration of enterprising ideas, and is part of the first ever Global Entrepreneurship Week.

YES WE’RE ON… The Clippykit Challenge with Make Your Mark have our very own exhibition at City Hall - that’s the big glass building near Tower Bridge overlooking the Tower of London and the Gherkin (not the green pickle variety). It’s going to be FAB. The winning bags and lots of the other entries will be on display from November 19th through to December 9th. The gallery is in front of the Assembly Chamber itself, so Mayor Boris will be able to study them closely in between sessions. Do go and look. It’s free to walk round and the entries were really fantastic. We are hoping to expand the competition across the country, so if any of you are in years 10 and 11 start asking your teachers about the chance of starting your own Make Your Mark club and participating in the 2009 challenge.
London Fashion Weekend, down at the Natural History Museum in London was busy, busy. I bought a pair of sunglasses (with a bit of diamante here and there), a purple dress in which i look - well just heavenly. I COULD have bought some earrings, a watch, and several pairs of knickers so you can see i was very reserved.
Poppy and Stan turned up. Stan was a bit disappointed because there was nothing for boys, but he made lots of cheery noises while Poppy tried on scarves, boots and evening frocks. She was not very reserved. A really good time was had by all, and i met lots of you on the Clippykit stand and i hope that you have all been happily customizing your new bags and brollies. SEND ME PICS FOR THE GALLERY.
Lots of love - off to think important thoughts about exhibitions.

Yes I’m Back. Holidays are FAB. I am now a brilliant diver (to six metres) and I think nothing of absailing down a canyon. I am also really, really good at eating, sleeping and turning over to get an even tan. Anyway enough of all that, back to the Clippykit office where I can still practice the eating bit.
This month is all go, go, go. A few trade fairs followed by London Fashion Weekend 24th – 28th September. I hope that maybe I’ll see some of you there. Clippykit is on stand LB16 with all our new stuff, and if a girl can’t buy a few bits and pieces to cheer herself up during the credit crunch, well I just don’t know…
Poppy and Stan were thrilled to be photographed for this months Stella magazine. They were spotted during a day out. Poppy would have liked a bit more warning so she could really have got dressed up. Stan said she looked gorgeous anyway and that she would have to get used to all the paparazzi attention now that they were going out into the world.
What else? Oh yes… The Wireless Theatre Company www.wirelesstheatrecompany.co.uk. Just the thing when you want to give your ears a music break. They record fantastic plays and short stories that you can download onto your ipod - FREE! It is run by my mate Mariele who is just fabulous and talented and used to go out with Stan, so please check them out.
Love Calypso x

Me again. Nearly off on my holiday to very, very hot Turkey. Joy and more joy. I hope you are on yours and will be filling bags with a few grains of sand, little shells and holiday photos. When you get home please email a picture which I can hang in the gallery for all to see.
I shall fill my pockets with shots of me going browner and browner (but not as brown as Renaldo, which would be a bit sad). I will also be sticking loads of labels from the bag tag on my case. I lost all the Clippykit samples once on an outing to Minneapolis (don’t ask) and it was really because one suitcase looks like another suitcase to a baggage handler. This year my black case will be awash with pretty labels and a photo of my rabbits (Cabbage and Betsy) and will be shining like a beacon on top of the case mountain.
OOoooooo another highlight of July was going to see the wonderful Adele http://www.adele.tv/ at Bush Hall… that girl is just oozing talent and charisma, I think I’ll send her a Clippykit.
Now for the really exciting news. THE WINNER OF THE LONDON CLIPPYKIT CHALLENGE IS HAVERSTOCK SCHOOL IN CAMDEN. They not only produced an amazing bag but an inspiring business plan. They took the topic of gun and knife crime and filled a bag with powerful graphic images associated with the issue. They also produced a business plan of such depth and detail that the Camden police have offered to fund their project across schools in their borough, which is inspiring. We are working hard at Clippykit and Make Your Mark to organize an exhibition of all the best bags that were sent in by the London schools. We will keep you informed of progress during the next few months.
Stan has been spotted this week at the Kitchen in Fulham (www.visitthekitchen.com) cooking haddock fishcakes and Thai curry for Poppy. He particularly liked the smart apron and the fact that he didn’t have to chop up much. All the ingredients came in neat little dishes, and the fabulous chef (Thierry – French accent, good with a knife) was on hand to help. All Stan had to do was a little light mixing and then take the dishes home to cook.. Poppy thought it was just the best, and wondered if her friend Emily (due for dinner Friday) would think she had cooked it all herself. She noticed they did a picnic hamper to order which was nice.
See you in September
Love and kisses etc

Hello from me, Calypso. I do hope that you will enjoy shopping on the new website. We’ve tried to include everything to make your visit a joy and a happiness. Hopefully all is up, working and raring to go
Now for something completely different. Introducing lovely Poppy and Stan our new Clippystick cards. Poppy and Stan like to keep up with the trends, and if Stan can keep Poppy out of the shops long enough you could spot them line-dancing in Hoxton or buying vintage for their night out. They come with a fab wardrobe of clothes that you can stick on. In fact the hard part is sending them out into the world. Perhaps you could let me know if you spot them anywhere. I will certainly be keeping a close eye on them and passing on info as to their whereabouts.
Poppy and Stan love food, and Stan is a bit of a closet romantic. This week he discovered
The most divine and delicious biscuits http://www.biscuiteers.com/ He couldn’t decide which shapes to choose but in the end he sent Poppy a tin of bag lady biscuits . Gorgeous iced biccies which look like HANDBAGS ( of course). Poppy was beside herself with joy when they arrived and thought they were much too nice to eat, so she just spent the morning arranging them in patterns on her desk, anyway by the afternoon there was only one left, a nice little clutch bag….for Stan.
Please don’t go without visiting our new Bag Gallery. In fact don’t just visit it, send us a photo and be hung in it. Let the world see your bag and what you have in it (well not the grotty bits obviously). We are off to a great start. For the last month we’ve been running a competition The London Clippykit Challenge with Make Your Mark clubs. Schools across London have been competing in teams to fill the pockets of a large bag with an issue that it important to them. I have been amazed, inspired and really touched by all your entries. Thank-you, thank-you, thank you for doing such incredible bags.
I can’t tell you who’s won yet ( next week..) but I wanted to show you some of the entries. The teams covered issues from gun crime and arranged marriages to fake friendships and Fairtrade. I hope to be able to spread the competition out over the country so watch this space.
Lots of love etc…
